Ladies on the Lake

Thursday, Aug 4th, 2016
Come on down to the tent for some lululemon on the lake yoga, shop local vendors, watch the anglers weigh in, dinner and a beverage, and then support our local hair donors! AND DONATE. Every cent raised goes to support the Forms of Hope Fund, a local fund which goes to support chemotherapy patients at LWDH during their healing.

See you there!

Kenora Bass International Board of Directors is excited to host the Ladies on the Lake fundraising event once again scheduled for Thursday, August 4th, 2016, under the WhiteCap Pavilion.

KBI is always looking for new ways to give back to our community. In an effort to make an even greater contribution, we have teamed up with Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation: Forms of Hope again for 2016.

The “Ladies on the Lake” event will bring awareness to this wonderful fund; cancer patients in Kenora can receive up to five hundred ($500) dollars to help with the cost of transportation to appointments, prescriptions, and wigs. Several Ladies on the Lake have come forward to generously donate their hair to be used in making wigs and hair pieces for cancer patients, and the cuts will happen on the main stage right after weigh in on Thursday!

This event is about raising money for our community members who are living with cancer, collaborating with our amazing local businesswomen, and creating a fun evening for women to explore products and services for the home, family and for themselves.

This is a FREE event! We will be collecting donations – 100% of all money raised will be donated to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation (LWDHF): Forms of Hope. The presentation to the LWDHF will be following the weigh in on Friday, Aug 7th.

We hope to see everyone there on Thursday night! Thanks so much for your support!

What is Forms of Hope?

Forms of Hope is a local fund created in hopes of making the lives of families and individuals in cancer treatment a little easier. Anyone undergoing cancer treatments may apply at LWDH. Each recipient is eligible for up to $500 in after-treatment services and items. These may include, depending on what individuals need:

  • Ready-made meals
  • Babysitting
  • House Cleaning
  • Massage/Reiki/Holistic treatments
  • Transportation to and from hospital
  • Wigs
  • Other items or services which will help you focus on healing!

How did this fund originate?

In 2007, two local artists coordinated a month-long art exhibit called 'Forms of Hope: the art of the female torso'. The exhibit consisted of 60 pieces of three-dimensional art, all based on the form of the female torso. The art was auctioned at the show's end. A book of photos was also published and sold. In total, 'Forms of Hope' made almost $26,000. Local artist, Kimberley Kahoot, in partnership with nursing staff in the Oncology Unit at LWDH, administers the 'Forms of Hope' fund.
