Ian Johnson was proud to be part of the health and healing community in Kenora. As a pharmacist of almost 40 years, he witnessed a great number of advancements in medical science. Ian had a deep interest in the evolution of technology and was a strong supporter of the advancements in treatment available at LWDH. He truly cared for his community and always advocated for care close to home.
The need for an MRI within our community was profoundly felt by the Johnson family when Ian’s wife Pippi experienced a stroke in 2024 and needed to travel to Thunder Bay for a full diagnosis. This requirement to travel and subsequent delay in diagnosis was an added stress to all members of the family. This donation will help to bring MRI equipment and trained staff to our community to improve availability of this critical diagnostic tool to everyone in the Kenora region.
A third-generation pharmacist, Ian carried on the legacy of Johnson’s Pharmacy—one of the town’s oldest businesses. He is remembered as a friend to many, a proud supporter of Kenora and its people. He was never afraid to step up and take a leadership role to make improvements in business, sports, community and family. He loved his life on the lake, his family and his friendships around the world. Ian always knew everyone’s name and made sure everyone was included.
We all miss Ian’s distinct voice and his valuable insight to all discussions, but are happy that his legacy of care will continue at LWDH.
