A Ripple of Strength, Hope, and Giving

When Lisa discovered some lumps during a self-exam, she didn’t ignore the signs. Having recently lost her mother to pancreatic cancer; she trusted her instincts and followed up, even though her last mammogram was just two years ago.

Thanks to the new Mammography Unit at Lake of the Woods District Hospital, an abnormality was detected. That early detection helped guide Lisa’s path forward through further testing in Thunder Bay and now, treatment for breast cancer, right here at home.

Lisa’s strength has sparked something incredible. Her workplace family at the Kenora Jail rallied around her, hosting a fundraiser and even shaving their heads in solidarity. With her trademark spirit and humility, Lisa has chosen to donate the $2,120 raised to Forms of Hope. The Forms of Hope is a special fund through the LWDH Foundation that provides support for local patients undergoing cancer treatment at LWDH.

Lisa didn’t need to access the fund herself, but she wants to ensure that others in our community do.

Her story is a powerful reminder:
