December Donations to LWDHF

Peggy Holland, President of G Clef & Music Men Choir generously presented a donation for $2,000 to Foundation in support of the Palliative Care Unit at LWDH. These proceeds were raised from “On This Shining Night” performance on December 3, 2023.

Emma Lang from Lake Country Financial Group, stopped in to present the Foundation with a $1,000 gift, directed to the Emergency Department. Lake Country Financial Group is dedicated to the communities they serve and chose to make a gift to three other hospital Foundations in the area this holiday season.

The Lake of the Woods Shrine Club have been active members of our community and champions of the Foundation for three decades. On December 12, 2023 they presented a $5,000 donation directed to the Rehabilitation Department. Funds will be used to purchase a new recumbent bike and more. Since 1993, the LOW Shrine Club have donated close to $93,000 to the Foundation in support of new equipment for our hospital!

Just before Christmas break, the Beaver Brae Secondary School staff donated $946.25 of their Christmas Sale Funds to LWDHF to support the 2023 Tree of Life Campaign. We thank them very much for their commitment to enhancing our community, through education and health!

The Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation (LWDHF) was thrilled to launch the 36 Annual Tree of Life Campaign in mid-November, poised to brighten the shoreline on Lake of the Woods, and bring warmth to hearts this holiday season.

In the spirit of giving, the Tree of Life invites individuals to join in creating meaningful moments—donating in memory of loved ones or paying tribute to the unsung heroes in our families, community, and hospital. Beyond a simple act of generosity, these heartfelt contributions directly address the most urgent needs of the Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH), with proceeds raised providing critical healthcare resources in the Emergency Department.

Every donation is a beacon of hope. It brings cutting-edge healthcare to our doorstep, ensuring that excellence in care becomes a gift shared by the entire community. As a donor, you are truly making a difference—for your loved ones, for the community, and for those who need it most.

This year, the Tree of Life has seen such incredible participation from individuals and businesses across Northwestern Ontario. Thanks to participation-focused Matching Gift incentives from Northern Hearing, Kenora Optometry Clinic and an Anonymous Donor, many individuals also had the opportunity to DOUBLE their impact. A total of 327 Gifts were made from 309 Donors for a total raised of $44,937.

A special thanks to the 66 LWDH staff members (which include all 12 individuals from MDRD and 17 from the Diagnostic Imaging team) whose kindness and willingness to give back have inspired us all and created a positive ripple effect throughout our organization.

Donations play a vital role in providing state-of-the-art healthcare equipment, supporting essential programs, and facilitating high-needs projects that contribute to critical care. On behalf of the Foundation Board of Directors and the staff we extend our heartfelt gratitude and wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

Thank you to the countless donors for their unwavering dedication to our community’s welfare!

We were delighted to have many businesses, clubs and organizations give the gift of health this holiday season and support the purchase of equipment in various departments throughout our hospital!
