Dr. Catherine Murray

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dr. Murray spent summers in Kenora and met her husband here almost 20 years ago. Upon completing her medical studies, including residency at the University of Ottawa in Radiology and then a one-year fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Murray and her family were delighted to return to Kenora six years ago, when she accepted the Chief of Radiology position at LWDH. From her first days at LWDH, Dr. Murray envisioned an advanced diagnostic imaging department with an MRI.

Dr. Murray has said that MRI is “a gold standard” and “the last piece of the puzzle” when it comes to upgrading the hospital’s diagnostic imaging equipment. “This will transform the way we practice in our hospital and help bring better patient care and health equity to the north,” Dr. Murray continued. Away from the hospital, Dr. Murray enjoys time with her family, especially at the camp, and the occasional game of golf.
