On September 13, the 4th Annual Ladies Open in Memory of Anchilla McDonald brought together 34 teams for a sold-out tournament; a true testament to how much this event has grown into a beloved community tradition.
Over just four years, the Ladies Open has raised more than $90,000 in support of women’s health at Lake of the Woods District Hospital — helping fund vital equipment including a new Coronis Uniti (Barco Monitor), funding directed to support the new Mammography Unit, and now, the Merge CADstream for MRI.
Merge CADstream is a cutting-edge, computer-aided detection software that helps radiologists interpret breast MRIs faster and with greater precision; supporting earlier diagnosis and better treatment planning for patients. Investing in this technology ensures people in Northwestern Ontario have access to the same advanced diagnostic care available in larger centres – saving time, reducing travel and, ultimately, improving outcomes.
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re reminded how Anchilla’s spirit continues to inspire hope, connection, and life-changing impact for patients and families in our community. 💗
