The Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation raises $420,000 thanks to the 17th edition of the Lifesavers Dinner and Auction!

Kenora (Ontario) – August 14, 2023 The Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation (LWDHF) is extremely pleased to announce that the 17th edition of the Lifesavers Dinner and Auction, which was held at the Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club on August 12th, raised $ 420,000, which will be used to improve the level of care provided by the Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH). This resounding success is namely due to the generous care shared by 30 Lighthouse Families, three Lifeboat table sponsors, the dozen anchor donors, and the countless individuals and organizations who provided auction prizes.

“We never cease to be amazed by the excitement and energy created when our community comes together to support enhanced patient care,” said Kim Mejia, Chair of the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation.

Over 170 guests and dignitaries enjoyed an entertaining evening, which included a cocktail hour, three-course meal, open bar, silent auction featuring 36 prizes, and 22 curated artworks from the extraordinary team at Mayberry Fine Art. Guests also had the opportunity to hear Dr. Sean Moore, Chief of Staff at LWDH, speak to building a center of excellence at the lake and the community’s role in enhancing patient care. Following a gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Rob Thomas, live auctioneer Don Konantz showcased the many experiential prizes that offered guests the chance to journey locally and internationally, many of these prizes generously gifted to the Foundation by Grateful Patients.

Funds raised from this year’s event will support the purchase of the following medical equipment and infrastructure at LWDH:

    • 10 Vital Signs Monitors – 3E Medical/Surgical
    • Stress Test Machine – Diagnostic Imagining
    • 2 LifePak15 Monitor/Defibrillator – Emergency Department (ED)
    • TruMonitor ECG/Defibrillator Simulator – ED
    • 2 MediDispense Units – Maternity & ED
    • Wifi Enhancement & Upgrades – Information Technology
    • Any additional funds will support the Core Server Infrastructure Update

“Thank you to everyone who had a hand in this achievement – and there were many – from the talented Lifesavers Planning Committee volunteers to the steadfast Lighthouse Families, the generous guests, sponsors, auction donors, Foundation Board of Directors, businesses and community partners – the list goes on. The funds raised through this event allow us to fund projects and purchase state-of-the-art equipment so that the Lake of the Woods District Hospital can continue to offer premium care, close to home” said Mira Trebilcock, Executive Director, LWDHF.
