Nicole’s passion for Kenora lies in its natural beauty; 17 years after moving to the City from the USA, she’s still in awe of the landscape. The serene waters, lush boreal forest, and breathtaking sunsets never cease to amaze her. She says, “The tranquillity and splendour of this place are unmatched, making it a perfect haven for me and my family.”
Nicole is the CEO of FSET, providing leadership to deliver innovative technology and solutions to Northwestern Ontario, including bringing SpaceX Starlink to local Indigenous communities. She is well known for her strong leadership and focus on continuous growth, while also promoting inclusivity.
She joined the Beyond The Scan Campaign Cabinet because she truly believes in giving back to the community. Kenora has provided so much to her and her family, and she sees this campaign as an opportunity to contribute to its ongoing growth and well-being.
Like many others, she’s needed to travel for medical care. After the birth of her son, she began to experience extreme back and hip pain. Unfortunately, the imaging tests she needed were unavailable in Kenora, requiring her to travel to Thunder Bay. She says, “The back and forth for testing and a diagnosis was taxing, tiring, and frustrating. This experience highlighted the urgent need for accessible medical services within our community. Each journey to Thunder Bay was filled with uncertainty and anxiety, not only for me but also for my family. The added stress of travel expenses, time away from home, and physical discomfort compounded my challenges. During these times, I realized the importance of having adequate medical facilities and services locally.”
In her spare time, Nicole defines herself as a self-proclaimed swim nerd. She loves the sport and swims Masters with Kenora Borealis. Additionally, she is an Assistant Coach of the Kenora Swimming Sharks. Being in the water and a part of the sport brings her immense joy and a sense of community.
