Par 3 Charity Challenge raises $225,252 for new Mammography Unit

Kenora, ON, July 16, 2024 – The Par 3 Charity Challenge Raises $225,252 for a New Mammography Unit at LWDH
Under hot, sunny skies on July 11, 2024, golfers and volunteers gathered for the 4th Annual Par 3 Charity Challenge, driven by The Dingwall Group. The event raised an impressive $225,252 to help fund a new Mammography Unit at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH). With this replacement, we upgrade our mammography capabilities to include tomography, contrast-enhanced imaging, stereotactic biopsies – more services close to home.
The all-inclusive 18-hole golf event saw remarkable participation and generosity from the community, with a full slate of golfers, 70 sponsors, and 85 volunteers contributing to its success. A highlight of the day was the Golf Ball Drop, which, for the second year running, captivated attendees. Jarnel Contracting’s crane hoisted 500 pre-sold, numbered golf balls 20 feet above the 18th green, with Linda I. from Kenora winning the $3,000 closest-to-the-hole prize.
The success of the Par 3 tournament was driven by the strong commitment to healthcare excellence demonstrated by Kenora and regional business sponsors. Seven Presenting Sponsors – The Standard Insurance, Kenora Chiefs Advisory, Jarnel Contracting, Sierra Construction, Princecraft Boats, BDO LLP, and Prairie Toyota Dealers—played a crucial role, along with Sean Lawton, a sole Presenting Donor, and 13 additional Platinum Sponsors. The collective efforts of sponsors from each business sector and volunteers made the day a resounding success.
Participants enjoyed an all-inclusive experience, featuring an 18-hole round with 18 chances to win major hole-in-one prizes such as vehicles and boats, networking opportunities over lunch and dinner, interactive hole contests hosted by local businesses, putting contests, and closest-to-the-pin prizes for each hole.
The Par 3 Charity Challenge’s success would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the planning team. Special thanks to Laci Dingwall, Shauna Aubin, and all involved for their commitment to the community’s health and wellbeing. “It’s amazing to have so many businesses and volunteers all come together for such an important cause; I’m humbled every year to see the momentum that this event has gotten and truly thankful for the generous support of all of our partners!” said organizer Laci Dingwall.

With 90% of LWDH’s capital medical equipment funded by community donations, this signature event plays a crucial role in securing essential resources each year. Thank you to everyone involved for “driving the ball” closer to our fundraising goal and supporting healthcare at home.
