Thank you to our community!

Par-fect Golf Day raises $200,514 for New Equipment at LWDH

The Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation (LWDHF) is delighted to report that the 3rd Annual Par 3 Charity Challenge, driven by the Dingwall Group, reached new heights, surpassing previous fundraising targets and featured new ways for the community to participate.

Thanks to the tremendous support of 144 golfers, 65 sponsors, nearly 90 volunteers, and 200 people who purchased balls for the Golf Ball Drop, the tournament raised an unprecedented $200,514 to purchase 15 new stretchers in the Emergency Department at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH).

The day kicked off with Kenora’s first ever Golf Ball Drop, where 500 pre-sold numbered golf balls were dropped from Jarnel Contracting’s crane, hoisted 15ft above the 18th hole. The five Presenting Sponsors; The Standard Insurance, Kenora Chiefs Advisory, Jarnel Contracting, Sierra Construction, and Princecraft, along with 14 Platinum Sponsors, set the tone for the day. The collective effort of the event sponsors and volunteers – 45 of these volunteers being hospital staff – helped to make the day a resounding success! The strength of community and spirit of philanthropy was palpable throughout the day!

Golfers enjoyed an all-inclusive experience, featuring an 18-hole round with 18 chances to win major hole-in one prizes, a networking lunch and dinner, interactive hole contests organized and hosted by local businesses, putting contests and closest to the pin prizes for each hole. 90% of the capital medical equipment at LWDH is funded by community donations and this signature community event is a cornerstone to funding essential pieces at our hospital, each year. Thank you to everyone involved for playing a pivotal role in making great care possible, close to home!

Of course, an event like this does not happen without the passion and commitment of a dedicated group of organizers. Special thanks to Laci Dingwall, Shauna Aubin and to all those involved throughout the day, for investing in the shared health and wellbeing of our community. We hope to see you next year!
