This June, the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation (LWDHF) is partnering with the Kenora Cat Shelter and It’s a Dog’s Life to launch Whiskers & Winnings; a special month-long 50/50 lottery that brings together compassionate care for both people and animals across our community.
Running exclusively throughout the month of June, the lottery will help fund essential equipment upgrades for Nutrition and Food Services at Lake of the Woods District Hospital (LWDH), supporting the care, comfort, and experience of patients and families close to home. At the same time, the initiative will help increase visibility for adoptable pets currently in the care of both local shelters.
As part of the partnership, adoptable cats and dogs will be featured throughout the month on the LWDH Foundation’s social media channels (Facebook and Instagram), helping to connect local animals with loving homes, while encouraging the community to support local healthcare.
Every ticket purchased will support patient care at LWDH while giving participants the opportunity to win cash during three exciting draws during the month, culminating in the Grand Prize Jackpot Draw on June 30.
“Partnerships like this are such a meaningful reminder of how deeply our community cares, both for people and for animals,” said Mira Trebilcock, Executive Director of the LWDHF. “We are incredibly grateful to partner with the Kenora Cat Shelter and It’s a Dog’s Life to bring awareness to local pet adoption while also helping fund important Nutrition and Food Services equipment that supports patients and families at our hospital every single day.”

Community members are encouraged to purchase tickets, follow the lottery online, and help spread the word by sharing featured adoptable pets throughout June.
